It’s been well established at this point that the German Army Trainer is one of the “it shoes” of 2026, whether you’re talking about Maison Margiela’s Replica Sneaker, the original adidas BW Army, or any of the many brands producing near-identical takes on the style. It should come as no surprise, then, that adidas is exploring new avenues for the silhouette, teeing up multiple hybrids by The Whitaker Group as part of the collective’s rapidly growing “Do Not Duplicate” line.

On the heels of the chunky, retro skate shoe-inspired adidas BW 2000s comes an all-new hybrid informed by ‘70s runners. The adidas BW Run retains recognizable GAT paneling on the toe and sidewalls, but shifts into a retro running shape reminiscent of the adidas SL-72 (though not a direct one-to-one). The material build follows suit, swapping in a mix of nylon, suede, and leather to match the updated form.

A series of three serrations on the backtab and a blank tongue tag all but confirm this as another entry in The Whitaker Group’s expanding “Do Not Duplicate” line, which likely means EQL raffles across the collective’s retail outposts. Four adidas BW Run colorways have been revealed – Grey/White, Grey/Blue, Grey/Red, and Brown – with all expected to land during the Summer 2026 window.
