As Derek Curry’s Sneaker Politics empire is slowly building throughout the South, the respected retail imprint announces another big move in 2025 — an exclusive release with ASICS and the brand’s most in-demand silhouette.

Since its resurgence during the lockdown era, the ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 has become a primary tool to build upon the Japanese brand’s global outreach. Their collaborative rolodex includes top-shelf retailers, musicians, fashion labels, and all-around creatives, all of which seem to be eaten up by the public.

Sneaker Politics enters the conversation with a unique project coinciding with their Austin location on March 8th; in 2018, Derek Curry opened up his shop for the first time outside the state lines of Louisiana, landing in the heart of the booming Texan city. Politics eventually expanded to Dallas, and they’ve got another one opening in Houston, too.

The official teaser of this SMU reveals a silver and bright orange on logo strike and a darker, more vibrant citrus shade on the heel. Matching accents appear ont he tongue and the outsole, while the upper relies on the classic silver overlay with white base mesh. The shot itself appears again on the front page of a mock newspaper, but the true color-blocking remains hidden due to the black/white printing.

Sneaker Politics will likely announce the release in full soon, but circle March 8th on your calendar for a possible release date.
