Saucony is starting off the new year strong with a brand new sneaker release. The ProGrid Paramount brings everything we love about their older tech runner silhouettes, but strips down any branding to a bare minimum for the more minimalistic sneakerhead.
Saucony’s archives of technical running shoes have served them well over the last few years. The trend of sporty and functional sneakers is still going strong, and their 100+ year history of footwear is perfect for those looking to rock some Y2K-era style, without the downsides of 20 year old sneaker. The brand’s main lifestyle focus over the last few years has been promoting these retro styles through some incredible collaborations, teaming up with the likes of Westside Gunn, Jae Tips, FootPatrol, and many more.
This week, the Massachusetts-based brand released their latest new silhouette, taking inspiration from their technical running shoes and applying it to a streamlined new shape. Dubbed the ProGrid Paramount, the new style is heavy on mesh and synthetic materials and very light on branding. Mounted on top of a ProGrid-cushioned midsole, the upper is constructed from a giant cut of mesh, with no breaks or other panels across the midfoot and toe sections. The toe cap is reinforced with a slim synthetic panel, as are the eyestays, while the heel counter features a denser set of panels for extra support. Three colorways are available at launch, black/white, white/gold, and white/navy.
