If you know, you know. Saucony may not command the same mainstream retro running spotlight as ASICS or New Balance, but it quietly owns some of the category’s best-looking and most comfortable silhouettes, backed by nearly seven decades of running history. The brand has been mining its Progrid series for lifestyle gold in recent years, with the Omni 9 and Triumph 4 leading the charge. Now comes another archive pull with the potential to match, or dare we say, surpass, that upper echelon.

Enter the Saucony Progrid Ride 1, originally released in 2008 as a versatile everyday trainer and now back to ride a 2000s running wave that shows no signs of dying down. The model was a standout at Saucony’s Spring/Summer 2027 preview at Paris Fashion Week, but fans need not wait until then. Multiple colorways have been unveiled, led by an impressive launch look featuring a Buttercup yellow midsole (available NOW via the Saucony website). The Ride 1’s layering is fairly straightforward, leaning heavily on silver leather not unlike its many 2000s peers. What’s especially compelling, at least on the launch colorway and other planned 2026 drops, is the mesh pattern, more open and retro-feeling than most other retro runners on offer today.
