We’ll stop short of saying that every brand’s catalog looks the same nowadays. Far from it; the distinctive charm and overall aesthetics of each company are still their own, yet no one wants to be left behind in any individual trend or wave. 3D-printing remains a significant draw in that regard, and Reebok has finally planted their flag with the Question 96/26, enlisting category leader Zellerfeld in the effort.
As its title would indicate, this again marks an instance where the heyday of Reebok Basketball is highly influential, utilizing 1996’s iconic Reebok Question as its foundation. That inspiration is visible with two midsole “pods,” more accurately described by the brands as windows, a shared component from AI’s very first sig shoe. However, the other half of the title comes into play by pushing the OG design in a more futuristic direction.
Simply by way of its low-cut silhouette and overall shape, this shoe aligns with the current design language that Reebok has expressed in its basketball roster. The Engine A, Engine 26, and Angel Reese 1 all bear real resemblance to the shoe at hand, not least of which for the notched foot entrance consistent across all four. Finally, as fans of rival designs could attest, Zellerfeld’s influence is immediately visible as well; the checkerboard pattern towards the laces and hexagonal geometry peering through the windows are each aspects that can be seen throughout their 3D-printed roster.
The Zellerfeld x Reebok Question 96/26 releases on August 25th in limited quantities, dropping only via Zellerfeld.com with a $169 sticker price. Catch official images of the white and purple launch colorways included below; official press hints at further releases coming down the line.
