Nike’s rollout for their World Cup CryoShot collection is well underway. This week, English brand Palace Skateboards unveiled their contribution to the project, a “Team England” pair of the CryoShot Air Speed Mercurial boot, releasing soon.
Among a myriad of other World Cup and National Team-themed sneaker releases, Nike has cooked up a truly special global project with eight of their collaborative partners for this Summer. The collection is centered around the CryoShot, their take on turning a football boot into a wearable sneaker by encapsulating the shoe’s spikes in a crystal clear rubber, maintaining the shoe’s original structure and look while making them actually comfortable to wear. The CryoShot line was first teased last Summer, but is only now coming to fruition with a number of releases lined up to celebrate the World Cup. The collection taps eight of the Swoosh’s partners from around the world to deliver their take on the CryoShot through a selection of vintage boots, each dressed in the colors of said partner’s home national team. The lineup includes Virgil Abloh for USA, Drake & NOCTA for Canada, PeaseMinusOne for South Korea, Slawn for Nigeria, Patta for the Netherlands, Jacquemus for France, and Palace for England. Palace is the latest brand to show off their contribution to the special-edition series, featuring the 1998 Air Speed Mercurial as their boot of choice, alongside an apparel collection of jerseys, track suits, letterman jackets, and more. The Air Speed comes in a black leather upper with white Swooshes and red accents, using a semi-transparent TPU around the collar for support.

Palace’s contribution to the World Cup CryoShot pack is scheduled to release this month, with an initial drop from the English brand on June 12th, followed by a Nike SNKRS release on June 16th. Their take on the project turns the 1998 Air Speed Mercurial boot into a walkable shoe, dressed in black, red and white for Team England. Pricing for this model is likely to align with the other CryoShot releases at $210.
