The peak of the Chicago Bulls, obviously, brought to light the most iconic signature series in the history of footwear. Yet as Nike continues a tour through the basketball hits of old, you can’t count out His Airness’ running mates. Even if the Swoosh hasn’t brought back Pip’s Air Pippen series, still his legacy has been in the ether via retakes of the Air More Uptempo and Air Max Uptempo. Now, Dennis Rodman gets some shine, as Nike designers tease the return of the Air Worm NDestrukt.

For his work at Jordan Brand, surely our audience should be familiar with Mr. Frank Cooker, but he’s earned another notch in his belt as of late, previewing several upcoming products coming out of Beaverton via his socials. The same goes for today’s news, as he shared a shot of an archival pair of the Air Worm NDestrukt, coyly teasing them with a “Twist.”

For the uninitiated, though the Air Worm NDestrukt was christened in Rodman’s name, it was a pain point between Dennis and the company. The Shake NDestrukt got his on-court approval, but due to being left out of the design process and qualms with the Air Worm logo on the heel, he never suited up in this zipper design. Eventually, creative differences between he and the team led to their outright breakup, with Rodman closing his career under Converse, instead.

It seems likely that that history will lead this “twist” on the Air Worm NDestrukt, either emphasizing the infamous touch or swap it out entirely, as Deion Sanders’ signature line demonstrated in some of its bring-back efforts.
