The United States securing a gold medal in basketball every four years was once a formality, so much so that failing to do so in 2004 was a seismic enough story to make the team that made good on their failings a legendary one in their own right. As any analysis of the state of international hoops would tell you, though, the world is hot on the US’ heels, even if this past All-Star and Paris 2024 still resulted in the stars and stripes flying highest.
The development of players up north is one of the biggest storylines within that rise, with reigning MVP and arguable best player in the world Shai Gilgeous-Alexander at the top of the pack. As the next generation from the Great White North convened for the All Canadian Games, Nike had some special edition swag for attendees.
Shown below is a Nike GT Cut 4 “Canada” PE, clever and bold in adapting the flag with a front-to-back red/white split, breaking in the middle with a maple leaf pattern. In-hand images reveal that the theme continues onto the heel, where a 3D maple leaf sits on the heel in red. A translucent hangtag with the same motif and “Cool Under Pressure” spell-out text toward the toe close out.
Lest you have some sort of hook-up with an All Canadian Games participant, this Nike GT Cut 4 PE will remain exclusive to their closets. For a bit of window shopping, peruse the images below.
