We’ve got Air Max 95s for skating, now meet Air Max 95s for hiking. Sergio Lozano’s best and most widely known sneaker appears to have caught the Nike Boot bug, here presented in an all-new style reimagined through the lens of traditional hiking boots.
We’ve come to expect relentless innovation and reimagination from Nike, but even we’re sometimes taken aback by the ways the brand chooses to freshen up its retro product. The Air Max 95 here shifts into an all-new upper consisting of a textured, molded synthetic material, treated with laser etching for definition where suede/leather panels usually lie. Perhaps even more notable are the lace loops, or lack thereof. The model’s traditional fabric loops are removed and replaced by six metal hooks on each side, offering the clearest example of the style’s hiking intention. The tongue and insoles both feature encircled “95” numbering as opposed to their usual branding, and the spine drops its “Nike Air” in favor of a plain Swoosh. Granted, those changes feel like afterthoughts in this case.
If you’re grasping for some sort of explanation as to why this exists, look no further than the uptrending Nike Boot category. The Baltoro, Goadome, and long-archived Goadome Low have all made headlines in their own right in recent seasons, injecting some much-needed energy back into Nike ACG as we continue hunkering down for winter. This Air Max 95 retains the same traction as the normal version, but the new molded upper is undeniably more weatherproof than suede/leather builds. We’ll be the first to admit that this probably isn’t a sneaker for 110 purists, but moreso skewed toward the “gorpcore” crowd.
The Air Max 95 hiking shoe retails for $200 USD and is set to release February 19th, 2026 via SNKRS. See official images below if you’re considering scooping.
In other Nike news, the Air Max 90 is the latest sneaker to join the “Realtree” lineup.
