Nike Has Officially Changed The Air Max 2000 To The Air Max Ecstasy Plus

The Nike Air Max 2000 is coming back from obscurity, but don’t expect to see its old name on shelves. A first look has surfaced at an upcoming silver and black edition of the retro Air Max model, which Nike has officially renamed the Air Max Ecstasy Plus for its 2026 return. The pair features a metallic silver upper contrasted by black detailing throughout, leaning comfortably into the retro-futuristic aesthetic that has helped revive plenty of forgotten runners in recent years.

Originally released as the Air Max 2000, the silhouette was never exactly a streetwear phenomenon. Dedicated Air Max collectors and mega-fanatics certainly remember the model, but it never achieved anything close to the cultural relevance of icons like the Air Max 95, Air Max Plus, or Air Max 97.

Enter Supreme. Earlier this year, reports surfaced that Supreme would collaborate with Nike on the obscure silhouette—a familiar playbook for the New York brand, which has routinely selected lesser-known Nike models and helped reintroduce them to a new generation. When Supreme finally unveiled its collaboration, however, the shoe arrived with an unexpected wrinkle: Air Max Ecstasy Plus had replaced the Air Max 2000 name entirely.

We can now confirm that the new designation isn’t exclusive to Supreme. Nike has renamed the model across the board, with inline Air Max Ecstasy Plus colorways like the silver-and-black edition pictured here set to join the collaboration later this Holiday 2026 and Spring 2027.
