Nike’s Air max 95 has seen a ton of coverage in the last year, due to the model’s anniversary in 2025. Still, the Swoosh is keeping things interesting, like their forthcoming boot-inspired take on the retro runner, coming in February.

Nike has long drawn inspiration from hiking and outdoor footwear, blending rugged design cues with street-ready performance. In the late 1990s, this influence became especially clear with the Air Max 95, whose layered upper echoed the panels of trail and hiking boots while prioritizing durability and support. The silhouette’s thick outsole, lace loops, and gradient construction gave it a tougher, more technical look than earlier Air Max models. Over the years, Nike expanded on this approach with ACG-inspired colorways, boot-style materials, and winterized editions, helping the Air Max 95 evolve into a crossover icon that bridges outdoor utility and sneaker culture.

This season, the Swoosh is taking another stab at an outdoor-inspired take on the Air Max 95. This pair leans even further into details and constructions applied to outdoor footwear, cementing this as one of the sturdiest, rugged AM95s yet. The new look comes with a seamless upper, using debossed lines to give the appearance of the model’s layered construction. This is paired with a reworked lacing system, now using metal d-ring eyelets riveted into the upper for a rugged look. Rope laces are used to complete this boot-inspired transition, while a subtle blue Air bag under the heel completes the look.

Nike’s new take on the Air Max 95 has not been officially announced for release yet, but rumors point to its arrival on February 19th, 2026. Dressed in all black, this pair features a seamless construction for its layered upper and metal d-rings for a lacing system. Pairs will be available from both Nike and select retailers, surprisingly carrying the usual $190 price tag.
