The 1996 Olympic Games marked the 100th anniversary of our modern version of Greek sporting events. This Summer, Nike is celebrating the historic events in Atlanta with a special release of their Air Trainer SC.
The Air Trainer SC from Nike is back for a new release this season. originally released in 1990, the model was designed by Tinker Hatfield for Bo Jackson, whose presence on two professional sports fields called for a signature shoe that could handle all kinds of athleticism. The SC delivered as one of the iconic ’90s cross-trainers, and remains a sneaker icon over thirty years later. This season, Nike is using the SC for a special release, their first with the retro model since 2022. The new look will celebrate the 1996 Olympic Games held in Atlanta, which went down thirty years ago this Summer. The Trainer dons a smooth “Pro Purple” color for this release, sporting a 3M reflective underlay and suede overlay panels. The midfoot lacing straps come in white with metallic gold accents, while a confetti print outsole adds another burst of color. The right shoe’s tongue features an embroidered peach for the state of Georgia, while red, white, and blue insoles with ’96’ nod to that year’s Games.
