Nike may have gone overboard with their Dunk releases since 2020, but the Swoosh still manages to impress with a special release here and there. This week, we have an early look at a new “Black Cord” style, pitting the shoe in a variety of corduroy textures for Spring 2026.
Corduroy is a special textile, identifiable from its woven ridges that give the signature striped look and velvety feel. While corduroy has its place in sneaker history, it is not exactly a “go-to” material when crafting footwear, and takes a backseat in some areas to materials like leather and canvas. However, the fabrics unique woven structure lends itself well to durability and retaining warmth, making it an ideal fabric for Fall and Winter wardrobes.
This season, Nike is outfitting their classic Dunk Low with an all new corduroy look, using a trio of versions with varying wale widths to create a unique, textured pair of sneakers. The shoe comes in a dark palette of black and grey shades, mixes across the different versions of corduroy used. The toe box uses the thinnest wales, and comes in a dark Iron grey tone. The main body panels come in jet black and feature the widest striped detailing, while overlays are added in a middle ground of both wales and color, dyed in Nike’s Anthracite shade of washed black. Branding is minimal, featuring Swoosh outlines on the tongues and insoles in red, and each pair comes with multiple lace options to complete the look.
