Nigo’s exploration of various art forms through Nike sneakers continues this week. The designer and artist is back with another collection of Air Force 3 styles, this time taking inspiration from the Japanese practice of pottery repair called Kintsugi.

Nigo first announced his collaborative partnership with Nike about two years ago now, in 2023. The Japanese designer and founder of BAPE did not release his first project until a year and a half later, in Fall 2024, which features a fairly unconventional choice of sneaker, the Air Force 3. Originally released in 1988, the AF3 never quite had the same public appeal as the original, and was shelved in the Nike archive for years. Now, Nigo has been laser focused on the silhouette for the duration of his Nike releases, adding another project to the list this week.

Following up on their denim-clad editions of the AF3 last month, in partnership with Levi’s, Nigo & Nike already have their next release arriving this week. Once again featuring the Air Force 3, this release will come in three colorways, each of which are inspired by the Japanese practice of Kintsugi. Kintsugi is a pottery repair technique which uses lacquer to fix broken areas, giving them an entirely new and distinctive look. The trio of AF3s follows suit with asymmetrical designs, with each pair split both at the midfoot and between right and left shoes. Pairs come with a predominantly white half, opposite a darker shade of black, brown, or dark grey. Each of these sections is speckled to better reflect the look of old, repaired pottery.

Nigo and Nike are back with another run of the Air Force 3, which will release this week on November 15th, 2025, through Dover Street Market stores and online. Nike will follow up with their own global drop next week, scheduled for November 20th via the SNKRS app. This collection is inspired by the Japanese art of kintsugi, used in repairing pottery. Three asymmetrical colors of the AF3 will be available for $160 each.
