New Balance’s Tokyo Design Studio Goes Laceless With Their Take on the 610

New Balance 610 Tokyo Design StudioNew Balance first introduced their Tokyo Design Studio several years ago, which works on conceptual versions of their current lineup of sneakers. This week, we got an early look at the TDS take on the 610, coming soon.

The Tokyo Design Studio has been creating some of the most forward-thinking silhouettes from New Balance over the past few years. From the three-in-one Niobium boots to a Vibram-soled 574 for a Grey Day release, the Japanese team has been hard at work delivering advanced and highly unique updates to some of our favorite models. This week, we have an early look at their version of the 610 trail runner, which was recently unveiled in a collaboration with Bodega last week. The TDS pair is heavily modified, removing the laces entirely and replacing them with a form-fitting neoprene inner bootie. The shoe’s panelling has also been modified for this look, removing excess outer layers and keeping things simple with just a mesh and suede construction.

NEW BALANCE TOKYO DESIGN STUDIO 610 RELEASE INFORMATION

The reworked version of New Balance’s 610 silhouette from their Tokyo Design Studio has not been announced for release, though we are hoping to see them launch sometime this Summer. Slimming down the model and removing the lacing system entirely, we hope to see this pair get a global release from New Balance’s website, likely with a price tag in the $160 range.
