Matthew M Williams' FW23 Runway Givenchy Work Ankle Boot Isn't Your Average 6 Inch Timbs

Matthew M Williams' aesthetic is saturated in streetwear references, and bar Givenchy's latest collection, much of his work for the House has explored the intersection between high-and-low fashion realms coming together. Nothing explores this more than Givenchy's latest footwear offering -- Fall/Winter 2023's Work Ankle Boot.Drawing heavily from Timberland's 6 Inch Boot (which has been officially reworked by Houses such as Jimmy Choo and Off-White™), Givenchy's Work Ankle Boot brings many of the same elements, only all of them are recontextualized. Whereas a brand new pair of Timbs would be box-fresh, Givenchy's "Beige/Black" iteration is heavily distressed, as if they've already been worn on the construction site.Leather is 100% calfskin and buttery-soft, hitting up the collar as expected, while beneath it you'll find the House's 4G logo. Givenchy's moniker is debossed on the tongue and embossed at the back of the sole, while signatures like a thick rubber sole and gold-toned metal hook eyelets round out the pair. While this offering is more expensive at $1,095 USD, there are also two pairs that come in $1,050 USD. As expected, you pay more for less, as the latter two are far cleaner in "Black" or "Red Cherry" colorways, coming without any distressing and putting the premium leather construction at the fore.Take a look at Givenchy's runway-worn Work Ankle Boots above, and pick them up online or in boutiques globally now.In other news, Kiko Kostadinov's Tonkin shoe has been updated for FW23.Click here to view full gallery at Hypebeast
