Nike’s CryoShot X2 collection has launched this morning, through a pop-up shop in New York City. Attendees of the release were surprised with a secret eighth member of the collection, a old red Mercurial Vapor 1 from Jordan Brand.
The last two weeks have been filled with news about Nike’s new CryoShot line, a series of modified archival soccer boots with a clear rubber sole encasing the spikes. The project is their big launch for this Summer’s World Cup, bringing in an array of collaborative partners to give their take on classic boots in colors for their home countries. This morning, Nike opened up a pop-up shop for all seven footwear and apparel collections at 47 Chrystie St. in New York City, where they unveiled a special surprise member of the lineup from Jordan.
Jordan Brand’s contribution to the CryoShot X2 collection marks the eighth member of the project, and caught us off guard after the seven other styles released this week. The Jumpman version brings Ronaldo’s Mercurial Vapor 1 back to life, a boot he wore during Brazil’s 2002 World Cup run. The new rendition features a crinkled leather upper with suede Swooshes, all of which is cast in a bold University Red color. The shoe’s heels feature an iridescent elephant print with glossy chrome trim, and a photo of Michael Jordan himself sealed inside the clear TPU sole underneath.

The secret eighth member of the Nike CryoShot collection is available right now, exclusively through a pop-up store in New York City.
