Jean Paul Gaultier, sacai and Nike Are Serving Up A Second Helping of Waffles

Jean Paul Gaultier, sacai and Nike sure hope you're hungry: they're serving up a second helping of Waffles before the year's out. A follow-up to last year's three-party, high-top collaboration, this new Waffle offers all the stacked style, abstract appeal and eye-catching embellishments of its predecessor, but with several notable material differences. Two colors have been produced, one a wild melange of hues that seems to nod to the original sacai x Nike LDV Waffle Daybreak colorways from 2019 and another, much more airy iteration that sticks to white and grey shades. The shoe's woven upper — somewhat reminiscent of the cult-favorite Air Woven — is rife in texture, combining its woven construction with plenty of textile, leather and suede detailing, plus signature details like doubled-up Swooshes, tongues, eyestays, laces, and, of course, the super-size midsole borrowed from the VaporWaffle. Though the style first leaked earlier in 2023, it wasn't immediately clear that Jean Paul Gaultier was involved in its creation. However, along with the official reveal, it was announced that the shoes will be dropping exclusively on the JPG webstore on November 22 at noon CET. A retail price has yet to be announced but will likely surface soon. While you wait for the release be sure to check out Sole Mates, a weekly Hypebeast series that spotlights notable individuals in street culture and the connection they share with their favorite sneakers.Click here to view full gallery at Hypebeast
