In the midst of September, it was confirmed that Jordan Brand had already begun preparations for its annual Chinese New Year collection. Headlined by the Air Jordan 1 Low OG, the Year of the Dragon will also be joined by a turquoise-treated edition of the Nike Ja 1.
Courtesy of imagery provided by hideloverrrr, the on-court tooling devotes a dominant majority of the upper to a pastel-centric ice blue hue that cascades across the mesh base layer, leather overlays and tongue construction. Alongside the midsole and laces color-matched teal-tint, a litany of “Photo Blue” accents inject a tonal blue treatment across the tongue tab, the heel’s iconography and the tread underfoot. What’s more, the low-top trim is imbued with a premium gilded finish as metallic gold hits ascertain the profile swoosh, heel tab, lace dubrae and the delicate floral detailing that consumes the forefoot panel.
The Nike Ja 1 “Chinese New Year” is expected to release next January. While we await to see if the premium tooling will receive a bump in price, the pair can be seen ahead in first-look imagery.
For more on-court offerings, the KD 16 “Aunt Pearl” was recently released.
