The Air Max 1000 finally made its public release this Summer, with both Nike and Zellerfeld releasing limited quantities of the 3D-printed silhouette. This week, the new style has surfaced in a soft “Lilac” purple shade, coming soon.
The Nike Air Max 1000 marks a new chapter for Nike, blending heritage and innovation. Created in partnership with Zellerfeld, this model uses almost entirely 3D-printing-based manufacturing. The upper and tread are printed as one piece, and the essential Air bag under the heel is added on its own. The shoe’s design draws inspiration from the original 1987 Air Max 1, keeping its visible Air comfort while pushing forward with laceless design and futuristic texture transitions. Early colorways have been very limited, but now Nike has some unique new colorways in the works.
Due to the nature of 3D printing and additive manufacturing, Nike’s colorways of the Air Max 1000 remain largely tonal. The printed portions come in one color, and the underfoot Air bag adds a splash of complimentary shades to spice up the look. This week, we have an early look at a fresh style coming this season, dressing the shoe in “Lilac” purple. This is paired with a bright red cushioning element to complete the look. The shoes have popped up today via Surplus in Sydney, likely releasing during their event this weekend, at which Nike will be in attendance.
