Estudio Niksen’s Saucony Trainer 80 Is a Study in Quiet Design

In a landscape where collaborations often chase loudness for attention, Estudio Niksen is moving in the opposite direction. Their philosophy of stillness and a quietude steps into footwear with its first-ever collaboration with Saucony, centered around the archival Saucony Trainer 80.

Rather than reworking the silhouette through bold statements, Niksen approaches the Trainer 80 with a softer lens inspired by life beyond the city. Drawing from workwear references and the rhythm of slower, outdoor living, the design leans into ease and function via earthy, sun-faded tones to the foundation, while tactile materials like hairy suede overlays, ripstop mesh uppers, and leather-lined interiors create a sense of depth without excess.

The execution is where the project truly lands. Details like zig-zag embroidery, contrast stitching, and a hand-drawn river logo introduce character without overwhelming the silhouette. A vintage-style co-branded tongue label, custom graphic sockliner, and interchangeable lace options further reinforce the idea of versatility.

It’s a thoughtful evolution of the Trainer 80, shifting it from its running roots into something more reflective of modern lifestyle. More importantly, it marks a meaningful step for Niksen, bringing its design language into a global footwear conversation for the first time. The accompanying lookbook, shot by William Arcand, mirrors that same energy of understated, intentional, and grounded in the moments in between.

A global launch is confirmed for April 30th for $120.
