Dingyun Zhang’s adidas Samba Returns in “Vapour White”

This Spring, adidas tapped former Yeezy designer Dingyun Zhang to create his take on their iconic Samba. Now, a new pair of the modified version is releasing this Fall, this time casting the shoe in “Vapour White” suede uppers.

Dingyun Zhang is the sneaker designer behind some of the wildest and most interesting sneaker silhouettes from Yeezy over the last decade. Zhang helped bring some pivotal silhouettes like the 700 and Foam RNNR to life, but has since moved on from his work at Yeezy to create his own eponymous clothing line. This year, he’s returned to work with adidas to give his take on the iconic Samba.

Zhang’s first release of the Samba came this Spring, showing off a slightly modified version of the shoe with taller heels, a padded collar, and revised construction. This season, his version returns with some material changes from the earlier patent leather release. This time around, the shoe gets a monotone look in “Vapour White”, and suede for its main textile.

The next colorway of Dingyun Zhang’s take on the adidas Samba has not been officially announced for release yet, but is expected to arrive sometime in Fall 2024. Dressed in a “Vapour White” suede this time around, pairs will be available from adidas and select retailers. No word yet on if they will retain the $250 price tag from the original release.
