The Air Jordan 3 has been a constant in the Jumpman’s lineup in recent years. That streak continues in August with a new release, bringing asymmetrical color blocking to the “Sports Renaissance” style.

Jordan Brand regularly rotates through their iconic retro silhouettes, focusing on one to two models at a time and flooding the market with fresh colors and stories. The Air Jordan 1 got this treatment from the late 2010s to early 2020s, and has since been scaled back significantly, releasing in more selective, purposeful styles. For the past few years, the Air Jordans 3 and 4 have been in the spotlight, featured heavily across collaborations, monthly releases, and special limited-edition in-line styles. The monthly drops are starting to feel a little played out, with the Jumpman scraping the bottom of the barrel for new ideas and stories to tell. This is the case, for me personally, with the “Sports Renaissance” Air Jordan 3 that emerged this week. While we have yet to hear the idea and process behind this color scheme, the look does not speak to the iconic silhouette and its history (to me). Covered in Obsidian blue leather for the uppers, the left and right shoe differ in their accent colors, with the right applying bold red to the heels, midsole accents, and mesh panels, while the left uses a light UNC shade of blue. There are some interesting details here, like the pleated tongue panel and multiple lace options. Aside from that, these are a pass for me.

AIR JORDAN 3 “SPORTS RENAISSANCE” RELEASE INFORMATION

The next Air Jordan 3 reportedly lined up for release is currently expected to arrive on August 15th, 2026, though this date has yet to be confirmed by Jordan Brand. Leaked via in-hand photos from SneakerGoodsMiami, the “Sports Renaissance” style colors the silhouette in an Obsidian blue upper, splitting accents between red for the right shoe and blue for the left. Pairs will release from both Nike and select retailers, packaged with three sets of laces for $215.
