After its introduction in 2024, the Asics GEL-Nimbus 10.1 has become another fan-favorite retro in the sneaker world. With many more colors and collaborations released this year, Asics is prepping the shoe for rainy days with a new Gore-Tex variant.
Asics has had another excellent year in sneakers in 2025. The Japanese running brand gave us a ton of new colors of beloved models, and excellent collaborations, many of which were focused on the GEL-Nimbus 10.1. The 10.1 is a variant on the OG Nimbus 10, first introduced in 2008. The new version made its debut back in 2024, as a part of Asics’ continually growing lineup of SportStyle sneakers, which repurpose older performance models for everyday, casual wear. This week, the GEL-Nimbus is gearing up for Winter, with a new Gore-Tex version starting to land on shelves.
Asics’ new GTX iteration of their GEL-Nimbus 10.1 keeps the look we’ve all come to love over the past two years, and hides some extra technical details inside. While the exact construction remains to be seen, the shoes presumably hide a waterproof Gore-Tex membrane inside the upper, helping to keep your feet dry when the need arises. The new variant has emerged overseas in a “Black Pepper” color scheme this week, hitting US shelves soon. The look features a black mesh base, with sesame tan synthetic overlays, and just a hint of dark red for the various branding elements.

Asics’ new Gore-Tex-lined version of their GEL-Nimbus 10.1 runner has already started to hit shelves overseas, with a US release expected before the end of the year. The latest pair comes with a clean “Black Pepper” colorway, which has already dropped on the brand’s UK site. When they release globally, pairs will be available from both Asics and select retailers for an expected $210.
