Despite a clear, concentrated shift toward models in the mid-teens over the next few seasons, the Air Jordan 4 is still king of the castle, remaining the most sought-after Jordan silhouette on the market at the moment. With that in mind, Jordan Brand is cashing in (or at least attempting to) with both new makeups and the return of several past colorways, some of them originals. With the “Bred” 4s back on the calendar for a Black Friday weekend drop this year, we can now also look ahead to Fall 2027 and the return of the Jordan 4 “Fire Red,” as reported by Sneaker Files and zSneakerHeadz.

An original colorway dating back to 1989, the “Fire Red” 4s have resurfaced in 2006, 2012, and most recently 2020. While the timing technically isn’t “too soon” judging by how Jordan Brand typically syndicates original colorways of this stature, the sheer number of Jordan 4 releases we’ve gotten since certainly makes it feel that way. Nigel Sylvester’s recent Jordan 4 “Brick After Brick” isn’t explicitly inspired by the “Fire Red,” but it’s kept this particular palette and color blocking in the conversation on the model all the same.

The 2020 pair was special at the time for restoring “Nike Air” branding on the backtab, an early example of a move that’s since become standard practice on original Jordan 3 and Jordan 4 colorways. Many found the shape to be a bit off, though, and the materials substandard. Like the upcoming Jordan 4 “Bred” and other Jordan 4 retros, the 2027 edition should land closer to the original 1989 silhouette. Expect a white leather upper, white netting over a black quarter window, and Fire Red hits on the eyestays, midsole, lining, and Nike Air branding in line with the original.

The Air Jordan 4 “Fire Red” is set to return during the Fall 2027 window, meaning sometime between next July and September. Official images of the 2020 edition are embedded below.
