The Air Jordan 3 “World’s Best Dad” will be released on May 30, 2026. A new color scheme, the shoes will feature Nike Air branding. The shoes are inspired by the photo of Michael Jordan on the floor after winning the 1996 NBA Finals, the first Finals he won after his father passed.
Jordan Brand will expand its new colorways in Summer 2025, with a focus on the Air Jordan 3. A fan favorite, the shoes are known as “World’s Best Dad” and will debut in a new color blocking. However, what makes this pair unique is that it features Nike Air branding. As of late, the brand has added Nike Air branding to non-OG pairs. Celebrating Father’s Day, the shoes will also come with a Father’s Day card.
The inspiration for this Air Jordan 3 isn’t just Father’s Day, but the iconic photo of Michael Jordan on the ground crying with the NBA Finals basketball. This was the first NBA Championship MJ won after his dad passed away. The Bulls would win the ’96 Finals on June 16, 1996, which was also Father’s Day. Elements from this photo and iconic time are used on this Air Jordan 3. The name, “World’s Best Dad” is a tribute to Jordan’s father, and all the great dads.
This Air Jordan 3 is dressed in a Sail, Black, University Red, Pale Ivory, and Palomino color combination. What we can expect from this pair is Sail leather across the upper. Around the toe and heel, the elephant print is replaced and will use the same pattern as the carpet in the photo. In addition, University Red appears on the Jumpman branding on the tongue, bottom eyelets. The heels will feature the classic Nike Air branding in Black with Red on the sides, and the top eyelet has a Gold hue. Hidden on the inside of the tongue is “World’s Best.” The Red translucent rubber outsole is a nod to the “Bred” Air Jordan 11, which MJ wore in the 1996 Finals. The design is completed with an aged midsole.
