adidas has been working on their 3D printed sneaker soles since 2017 through the FutureCraft project. Next year, they are taking it to the next level, introducing a new fully 3D printed ClimaCool model.

The FutureCraft project from adidas aimed to take the manufacturing of sneakers to a brand new customizable level. Introduced in 2017, the focus was set on 3D printed midsoles, casting them in flexible resin and modeled on scans of athletes feet to target pressure points and sensitive areas. While their “4D” did not get to the point of printing customs soles for every wearer, they are still advancing the technology each year.

This week, sneaker photographer @arab_lincoln unveiled the next evolution of adidas’ 4D series. This time, instead of a performance runner or sneaker, adidas is keeping things simple with a wild new take on their ClimaCool line. Created to provide more breathable footwear, this new version is fully 3D printed in their signature lattice look, meaning every nook and cranny in the shoe allows air to pass through it.

This is likely to be a ridiculously expensive endeavor for the brand. SLA printing has been their go-to for manufacturing in every FutureCraft iteration so far, as it allows for flexible materials with peak durability and weight reduction. The new model also looks incredible, but for the level of engineering behind it, expect a hefty new price tag.

ADIDAS CLIMACOOL 2025 RELEASE INFORMATION

adidas’ new 3D printed style of the ClimaCool is not expected to release until sometime in 2025. Taking their FutureCraft technology to the next level, the fully printed silhouette will likely come with a hefty price tag upwards of $250, releasing in limited numbers from adidas.
