Gone are the days when the boldest choice you had in running shoes was whether to grab the orange colorway or the green. Ironically, Melitta Baumeister’s distressed overhaul of the Vomero and Pegasus Premium, a bellwether in Nike’s blending of fashion and running, did lean on those hi-vis hallmarks, but it also signaled an industry-wide trend further exemplified by Minted NY’s Saucony Endorphin Pro 5, BAPE’s adidas EVO SL, or Aime Leon Dore’s New Balance Running capsule.

The Swoosh doesn’t need an outside partner to create gaudy overhauls for their tentpole runners, however, as animal-print Pegasus models or an alien-like, spiked Vomero Premium have demonstrated. To the latter point, evidently the navy/volt edition that tipped off the sharpened build was a hit internally. As part of the SNKRS Verified program, the brand unveiled a new neon colorway, kitted out with dusky purple foundations and bright pink attachments atop them. In explanatory copy, apparently this is a nod to Harajuku as “Japan’s streetwear capital,” though the exact ties there are unclear.

The Nike Vomero Premium SP will be on deck for a Fall/Winter 2026 release. Given the aforementioned previous colorway, expect this pair to clock in at $230.
