The Nike Moon Shoe is finally making it’s way into the brand’s standard catalog. After debuting to the public for the first time ever last year, the very first model created under the Nike name will release in an archival “Soft Pearl” colorway this Summer.

The Nike Moon Shoe is an essential piece of the brand’s history, despite only recently making its way onto the feet of the public. The silhouette was first imagined in 1972, and was one of founder Bill Bowerman’s first successful attempts at making shoe soles in his trusty waffle iron. The Moon Shoe was made in a run of just 12 pairs, and were given to athletes at that year’s Olympic trials, though they would never make it into full production. Instead, the Moon Shoe became a reference point for plenty of other Nike releases, residing in the brand’s archives for over fifty years. In 2025, fashion label Jacquemus released the first-ever publicly available pairs of the Moon Shoe, before following up this month with another round of colors.

Now, Nike is finally readying for their own in-line release of the Moon Shoe, for the very first time in the brands’ fifty-plus year history. The retro track shoe is seen here in the “Soft Pearl” colorway, recreated in its original construction, without some of the subtle changes made for the Jacquemus release. The Jac version featured an elastic collar, where Nike’s in-line pair use the double-bound edge of the original design. Additionally, the heel loop from the collab version has been dropped entirely.

Nike’s first-ever in-line release of the Moon Shoe, one of their very first silhouettes, has not been announced yet, but is coming soon for Summer 2026. The iconic silhouette made in 1971 didn’t make it to market until Jacquemus stepped in last year, and now the track shoe will arrive in the archival “Soft Pearl” style for its debut. Pairs will likely be available from both Nike and select retailers, priced at $105.
