We’re as guilty of it as the next blog, but the sheer quantity of jokes about the New Balance Allerdale being “your grandpa’s New Balances” dominated the model’s first few weeks in the public eye. As the silhouette has dropped further colorways, it’s become clear that the Boston brand doesn’t treat the shoe as a laughing matter by any means, spotlighting its heightened material quality again and again.
An all “Hazelnut” edition is the next to surface for the New Balance Allerdale, beginning to populate overseas release calendars. Though the sneaker recently crossed off of a shift into suede, this variation retains the rich, tumbled leather that paced its first edition, additionally maintaining its grown-up, earthy overtones. Finally, the hiking aspects that guide this shoe’s design are on full display as well, be it with the trasnlucent, lugged sole unit or the D rings and overall lacing unit, each breaking a bit from the overriding “Hazelnut” with adjacent tones.
The New Balance Allerdale “Hazelnut” is due out on September 4th, at least via overseas retailers. A stateside date is, as of yet, unclear. Be ready for a $250 retail price or equivalent upon arrival.
