A new year around the corner means new sneaker models from our favorite brands. Boston’s New Balance is getting a very early start to the year, launching their brand new performance & lifestyle hybrid model, the AC Runner, on New Year’s Day.

Since it’s founding in 1906, New Balance has been all about performance. The brand started off offering arch support inserts, before eventually expanding to full footwear offerings. Their main focus over the past century has been on running shoes, staying laser focused on providing the best cushioning and support they can with evolving technologies and shapes. Within the last decade, the brand became incredibly popular among sneakerheads for their more casual offerings, usually running shoes from bygone eras repurposed for lifestyle wear.

Next year, New Balance is blending those two use cases to deliver the AC Runner, a fresh model that can be worn as a training shoe that easily transitions to a sleek lifestyle model. The shoe is designed primarily with comfort in mind, using three different firmness levels of their Fresh Foam X cushioning for all-around use. This is combined with firm rails embedded in the sole for added stability and support, while the upper consists of a single piece of mesh printed with the dot-like pattern across it. The model’s initial two styles come in either black or white, both featuring an Afterglow green accent to complete the look.

NEW BALANCE AC RUNNER RELEASE INFORMATION

The upcoming performance/lifestyle hybrid sneaker from New Balance has been scheduled to debut next month, on January 1st, 2026. Dubbed the AC Runner, the brand new model combines a sleek, stylish shape with plenty of performance capabilities, and will come in either black or white colorways with a green accent. Pairs will be available through the brand’s website for $150.
