After six years, Jordan Brand is starting their “Cap & Gown” series back up. Started in 2018, the project delivered all-black, formal inspired sneakers to rock during graduation ceremonies. This year, the Air Jordan 6 is getting the treatment, complete with OG Nike Air branded heels.

The “Cap & Gown” lineup from Jordan Brand began in 2018 with the Air Jordan 11, a sleek all-black take featuring premium materials, tonal branding, and laces inspired by graduation cords. The shoes are designed to pair with formal attire during milestone ceremonies. In 2019, the theme continued with the Air Jordan 13 , carrying the triple-black aesthetic and elevated finishes onto another premium silhouette. These releases were paused starting in 2020, likely due to the lack of in-person graduation ceremonies. Now, Jordan Brand is starting it back up in 2026.

This year’s “Cap & Gown” release will be the first to use a single-digit Air Jordan model, delivering one of the more iconic early silhouettes for the debut release of the 2020s. The Air Jordan 6 is the canvas for this Spring release, timed to arrive ahead of graduation season in the Spring. Like past releases, the AJ6 gets a mostly blacked out colorway, but this pair adds more contrasting details than the AJ11 and AJ13 had for their drops. The 6’s piping, sole accents, and heel tabs come with a white flourish, all of which feature a 3M light reflective coating. The shoe’s base layer also gives some light reflective looks, appearing to be made from a satin-like textile.

The upcoming “Cap & Gown” edition of the Air Jordan 6 has not been announced officially yet, but leaks say the release is coming on April 2nd, 2026. The pair continues the Spring graduation series for Jordan Brand with a blacked out color scheme and reflective accents. Pairs will be available from both Nike and select retailers for $215.
