Another day, another Kobe release to add to our release calendar. The latest leaked pair is the 2009 Nike Kobe 4 “All-Star”, a red and white style worn by Bryant during an MVP performance, reissuing as a Protro in 2027.
The fourth iteration of Kobe Bryant‘s signature shoe line with Nike was one of the first models to get the Protro treatment back in 2019. Alongside the Kobe 1, the 4 returned with upgraded cushioning and retro colorways through a collaboration with Undefeated, and was one of the first styles to resume production after the hiatus following Bryant’s untimely death in 2020. The Kobe 4 Protro has been absent from the lineup of 2026 releases thus far, though some special pairs like the expansive “Draft Day” collection are on the way soon. The Kobe 4 was the first pair in his Nike line to be a low-cut model, with Bryant himself asking designer Eric Avar to make the lowest and most lightweight basketball shoe possible. The 4 is now a favorite among fans for its versatility in street fashion. This week, news of another retro colorway crossed our timelines, reviving the 2009 “All-Star” colorway for a Protro release in 2027. Worn by Bryant during an MVP performance at that year’s All-Star Game, the look pairs a mix of red tones with white snakeskin leather and gold accents for a regal look.
NIKE KOBE 4 PROTRO “ALL-STAR” RELEASE INFORMATION
Nike’s upcoming retro of another Kobe 4 colorway, now in Protro form, has not been announced for release yet, and is not expected to arrive until sometime in 2027. Potentially releasing to celebrate NBA All-Star in February, the 2009 “All-Star” red colorway was on Bryant’s feet when he earned the MVP for that year’s game. Pairs will be available from Nike and select retailers for $190.
