Since the days of the JD Sports Air Max 95, the retailer-exclusive “special makeup” has been a reliable way to gain buzz for a silhouette without the weighty expectations and full red carpet treatment that come with earnest collaborations. Nearly every major brand has since adopted that strategy in some form or fashion, and as Saucony crests with its seat at the table of lifestyle titans, they’re looking to Snipes for their latest set of SMUs.

Unsurprisingly, the tech runner aesthetics that have vaulted the Boston brand to said position are the focus again, delivered with two colorways of the Ride Millennium and one of the Progrid Omni 9, the latter perhaps the more famous for its links to Jae Tips, Sneaker Politics, and Starcow. Given SNIPES’ foothold in major metro areas, the “City Lights” collection builds nocturnal neons atop silver foundations, particularly effective with gradient treatments in the Ride Millennium’s overlays. The Progrid Omni 9 plants those same hits in a more reserved fashion, while the women’s Ride Millennium wears them delicately, centered within the sole platform and at the rear of its design.

The Saucony Progrid Omni 9 and the Ride Millennium in “Shark/Magenta” are both available now in men’s sizing, retailing for $155 and $110, respectively.
