The Pokémon and adidas collection has some latecomers to the anniversary collection party. The legendary dragon Rayquaza has emerged in a third sneaker form, the ZX 500, coming soon.

The Pokémon Company is celebrating thirty years of their iconic pocket monsters in 2026. The global empire of trading cards, video games, anime, and merch has lined up dozens of special projects in celebration, with fans eating up nearly everything that makes it to shelves. While I am still enjoying the Fire Red & Leaf Green remakes and waiting on the Gen 10 Wind & Waves games, the upcoming sneaker collection with adidas will satisfy my Pokémon itch for the time being. We first saw the massive collection of shoes earlier this Summer, which then included twelve silhouettes across a range of iconic ‘mons. This week, one more pair has surfaced for the upcoming Fall release.

Rayquaza is one of the most beloved legendary Pokémon, introduced in the franchise’s third generation of monsters in the Sapphire & Ruby games. Unobtainable until near the end of the game, Rayquaza came equipped with a powerful moveset, most notably Extreme Speed, which could carry you through tough battles. The dragon’s third sneaker iteration comes in the form of the ZX 500, a retro runner built for speed, joining the Adistar Control 5 and F50 Tunit, two more running silhouettes. The ZX 500 comes in his emerald green shade for the mesh base and suede overlays, applying a snakeskin texture to the three stripes and heel counters. Red and yellow accents complete the color palette, with gold foil branding to round out the design.

The upcoming Pokémon for adidas anniversary collection has not been officially announced yet, but the sprawling project is currently expected to arrive in September 2026. We got an early look at most pair from the collection earlier this month, but the ZX 500 “Rayquaza” is a latecomer, joining two more silhouettes representing the legendary dragon. Pairs will likely be available through both adidas and Pokemon Center stores, with a $100 price tag.
