The return of the “big bubble” Nike Air Max 95 has dominated much of the retro conversation in 2025, but Tinker Hatfield’s Air Max 1 has also carved out its share of spotlight moments. This year has already seen a super-limited Premium Goods collaboration, a four-pair Supreme project, and several video game-inspired drops via Nike’s dotSWOOSH platform. Alongside those headliners, Nike has also kept shelves stocked with an ample amount of general release colorways.
This latest pair dials all the way back to 1987 with a return to the model’s original “Sport Red” color blocking — though with a twist. The signature red is swapped for “Sanded Purple,” which covers the leather mudguard, Swoosh, upper eyestay, heel “Nike Air” branding, and parts of the outsole. The rest of the upper sticks to the tried-and-true formula with a mix of “Phantom” and “Vast Grey” mesh and suede.
The Nike Air Max 1 “Sanded Purple” releases Holiday 2025 for $145 in men’s sizes. See official images below if you’re considering adding a pair to your rotation.
