Bad Bunny’s No Me Quiero Ir de Aquí residency in Puerto Rico came to a close in mid-September, capping off an incredible summer that also coincided with the 5-year mark of his link with adidas Originals. In commemoration with this milestone, adidas Originals will be dropping a special colorway of the Adizero SL72 that not only highlights this growing union, but also calls back to the earlier days of this monumental partnership.
While Sneaker News revealed this Adizero SL72 in early August, adidas just revealed the full design inspiration behind this pink/brown colorway. This eclectic mix of tones actually call back to the Forum Buckle, Benito’s first shoe with the brand, and the three highly sought-after versions of the collaboration. The signature hues of the First Café, Easter Egg Pink, and Baby Blue editions of the Forum Buckle converge on the SL72’s layered build to create a mash-up that sneaker-heads commonly refer to as the “What The” style color-blocking.
The Forum Buckle was pivotal to Bad Bunny’s entry into the world of footwear, essentially legitimizing the Puerto Rican superstar as an influential figure. The “First Café” is still among the most sought-after adidas collaborations of the modern era, while several other projects that followed command a hefty sum in the aftermarket (the Bad Bunny Gazelle City Pack, for example).
The growing momentum behind Bad Bunny and adidas Originals only fuels the hype behind the debut of his first-ever signature shoe, the adidas Badbo. Thus far, we’ve only seen the shoe teased in a music video and hidden behind a frosted glass at the Bad Bunny Archive that was on exhibition exclusively in Puerto Rico for a limited time engagement.
The Bad Bunny adidas Adizero SL72 “5 Year” will release on the adidas Confirmed App on September 27th, 2025 for $160.
