Austin skate shop No Comply has announced its second collaboration with New Balance on the Numeric 480, once again rooting the theme close to home following last year’s shop-inspired pair.

Rapid growth in Austin has made for a genuinely unique cultural blend, the city’s Texan and western roots mixing with an influx of young, alternative transplants. Nowhere is that blend more alive than the music scene, though the truth is it’s been there longer than most people think.

The No Comply x New Balance Numeric 480 “Hippies & Cowboys” traces back to a specific moment in 1971, when Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings witnessed hippies and cowboys, two groups long thought to be at odds, finding common ground through music.

Willie Nelson is quoted as saying “When I left Nashville I went to Texas because that’s where I came from, and because I was playing in Texas a lot in different places. And I saw hippies and rednecks drinking beer together and smoking dope together and having a good time together and I knew it was possible to get all groups of people together – long hair, short hair, no hair – and music would bring them together.”

That spirit of unity drives the design. A black and light brown suede upper draws from cowboy boots, while red paisley and tie-dye patterns mix across the insoles and “N” logos. The standout detail is the inner tongue, hiding a stash pocket lined in purple velvet as a nod to guitar case linings. Three lace options are included: black flat, black round, and hemp rope.

The No Comply x New Balance Numeric 480 “Hippies & Cowboys” drops in-store on June 13th, 2026 at 10:00 AM local time. Bandanas will be available with every pair while supplies last, and the first 200 customers will receive a limited edition guitar case box. New Balance Numeric team members, including skate legend Andrew Reynolds, will be on-site for a signing and demo starting at 4:00 PM. See detailed images below if you’ll be copping.
