Nike’s archive of Kobe sneakers is full of iconic and fan-favorite colorways, and they have issues more and more older styles in recent years. This week, the 2013 “Easter” style has leaked as a Protro release for Spring 2027.

Nike Basketball’s holiday sneakers used to be a huge point of pride for the brand. The team would bring together all of their player signature models for themed collections, with Christmas and Easter being the two main holidays that fall during the NBA’s season. In 2013, the Kobe 8, KD 5, and LeBron 10 were the ‘big 3’ of the Nike lineup, beloved amongst players and sneaker collectors of the era. Bron and KD’s pairs came in mostly tonal colorways; “Crystal Mint” for LBJ’s shoe and bright “Turquoise” for Durant’s signature. The Kobe 8 tried something new, bringing a gradient color scheme to the shoe’s engineered mesh upper. The toe were colored in a Fiberglass shade of green, transitioning to Laser orange at the midfoot, and finally a dark Court Purple around the heels, all printed with a snakeskin pattern. Midsoles came in black with a green speckle and white outsole to complete the look. Next year, Nike is bringing this vibrant color scheme back to shelves with their updated Protro format.

NIKE KOBE 8 PROTRO “EASTER” RELEASE INFORMATION

Nike’s release of their “easter” Kobe 8 Protro is still a whole year away, arriving during the Spring 2027 season. Pairs will likely land on shelves just before this color’s titular holiday in March. The look will recreate the colorful gradient of the 2013 OG, available from both Nike and select retailers for $200.
