Despite releasing in hundreds of colorways and variants over the last four decades, the Nike Air Force 1 is still one of the most popular sneakers in history. This week, the model has surfaced in a tonal Midnight Navy blue build, adding bubble Swooshes for a fun new twist.
Since its debut in 1982, the Nike Air Force 1 has become one of the most iterated sneakers in history. Originally designed by Bruce Kilgore as a performance basketball shoe, the AF1 has been reimagined hundreds of times across four decades. Nike has released the silhouette in countless colorways, materials, and constructions, spanning highs, mids, and lows. Collaborations with designers, artists, athletes, and retailers have further expanded its legacy.
Throughout the years, Nike has found small, subtle ways to switch things up with the base edition AF1. This season, they’ve introduced a new “bubble Swoosh’ version of the shoe, which gives their signature branding an inflated appearance on each side of the shoe. The latest colorway of this fun new twist pits the silhouette in a tonal Midnight Navy blue build, constructed almost entirely from suede. The toe box adds a plastic-like piping around the edges, and the heel tabs have a molded, shrink wrapped appearance to complete the look.
