The Nike Air Max 90 in “Infrared” is one of the pillars of sneaker history. Nike is reportedly gearing up for another release of the iconic look next year, but this time bringing a reflective 3M twist to the sneaker for an exciting new version.

The Air Max 90 Infrared is one of the most important sneakers in Nike’s history, cementing the Air Max line as a cultural force beyond running. Designed by Tinker Hatfield, its bold Infrared accents spotlighted the visible Air unit, turning performance technology into a visual statement. The colorway helped redefine how athletes and consumers viewed footwear design, embracing contrast and attitude. Over decades of re-releases, the Infrared 90 has remained a constant reference point, influencing countless Nike designs and symbolizing the brand’s ability to merge innovation, style, and enduring global appeal.

The last proper release of the iconic AM90 “Infrared” came in 2020, when Nike was celebrating the model’s thirtieth anniversary with a remastered design and plenty of OG colorways. Towards the end of that year we saw an interesting “inside out” edition of the shoe, but the 90 has been relatively quiet since. This week, a new leak from SneakerFiles suggest that the “Infrared” look will return in Spring 2026, which could mean an Air Max Day release in March. This time, the shoe will have an interesting twist; 3M reflective panels. While the mock-ups seen here are purely speculative, Nike could make some very unique changes to the shoe for this release.
