Say it ain’t so! Nike SB’s Orange Label umbrella has been treating skaters to simplistic colorways of their beloved models for years at this point, the sub-brand putting in their own sweat equity to ensure that their skate shoes… are actually skated in. While photos of a new Nike SB Dunk Low “Deep Fir” are consistent with that concept, along with shots of the shoes comes news that the Orange Label may be hard to find on shelves quite soon, expected to enter a hiatus after this drop.
Consistent with what the label has released in recent memory, the Nike SB Dunk Low “Deep Fir” keeps things simple, coated in a heavy dose of “Deep Fir” suede up top and completed with the classic white/gum sole unit underfoot. To add a bit of energy to the overall restrained colorway, the “Orange Label” Swoosh appears on the tongue, further solidified by a rectangular SB brand on the insole.
Though it started before the pandemic Dunk craze, the “Orange Label” program was especially effective in catering to skaters during that moment, as anything bearing the Dunk name was quickly snapped up by collectors and resellers alike. Nearly half a decade later, the silhouette has no doubt dipped in popularity and gained in overall quantity, making the once-basketball model a far more accessible proposition. Whether it’s a result of that trend or the overall stated Nike goal to reduce the presence of “staple product,” sunsetting the Orange Label initiative for the moment sadly does make some sense.
If you’ve yet to grab an ISO release or want to add this “Deep Fir” Nike SB Dunk Low to your already-established collection, expect this pair to hit skate shops soon. It’s already started cropping up at overseas outlets — keep our Sneaker Release Dates page within reach to be the first to know when they hit a shop near you.
