As if there was any room to further rise in the out-of-house rankings, Hiroshi Fujiwara introduced the “Fragment Concept Testing” series earlier this year, pouring gas on the fire that still is the Nike Mind series by adding trademark Fragment branding and colorways to both the slide and sneaker. Those eventual two public releases hit the market to exactly the sell-out reception any of us could’ve predicted, but we were left to wonder whether the fabric build of the Mind 002 would be limited to Fujiwara’s orbit.

Well, wonder no more. For a bit of table setting, Nike surprise-launched their new “Nike Verified” platform within the SNKRS app, appearing to be the spiritual successor to the SNKRS Showcase. Current and future releases like the Nike Air Foamposite Pro “Red October,” Air Rejuven8 “Jelly,” and Air Max 90 “Ultramarine” each got a bit of storytelling copy to accelerate the anticipation for each, but a look at the Nike Mind 002 FK is the clear centerpiece.

Said explanatory copy confirms a suspicion we had from first blush, as the zany textures immediately called to mind sustainable designs of old, be it under the “Space Hippie” line or from the ISPA team. Indeed, the latter sub-label were the drivers behind this mixed-media build, later paired with the Mind 002 sole unit at a later point in development. A blend of neutral tonality manifests with “White/Dark Grey/Pure Platinum/Wolf Grey” foundations, before the individually articulating nodes and a sheer layer in the uppers deliver “Barely Volt.”
