Expanding on one of the most recognizable Kobe themes, Nike Basketball is taking things to another level with a massive collection inspired by every team that passed on Bryant before he landed with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Instead of revisiting the traditional Charlotte Hornets-inspired pair we saw in previous years, Nike created an entire collection tied to the 1996 NBA Draft. The concept highlights the 13 lottery teams that passed on Kobe, and includes a special Lakers edition that represents where his legacy was ultimately built.
The Nike Kobe 4 Protro “Draft Day” Pack will be available in blind-box format. That means buyers won’t know which colorway they are getting until they open the package. The collection includes pairs that represent the Philadelphia 76ers, Toronto Raptors, Vancouver Grizzlies, Minnesota Timberwolves, Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Clippers, New Jersey Nets, Dallas Mavericks, Indiana Pacers, Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Charlotte Hornets.
The fourteenth pair will be for the Los Angeles Lakers and comes in Purple and Gold.What makes the collection interesting is that the shoes feature White uppers with hidden wear-away layers underneath that reveal each team’s colors over time.
