Air Liquid Max is the latest new member of the Nike Air family, debuted for Air Max Day 2026. The silhouette is getting a redesigned upper this season, ditching the textured rubber overlays for a classic fabric construction.
Nike introduced their latest Air Max silhouette back in March, for the annual Air Max Day celebration. Liquid Max is not so much a brand new innovation as it is a new way to organize the cushioning, creating a series of spherical Air pods placed in high-stress zones, using negative space between them for even more ‘air’. The model has only landed in a few colors since its debut, including a collaboration with Fragment, and already Nike is introducing a new variant of the model this season.
The new look for Nike’s latest innovation in Air technology redesigns the upper for the Liquid Max, shifting away from the textured, organic look introduced on the “Poison Dart Frog” pair in favor of standard textiles and synthetics. The exact specifications of the new materials are currently unknown, though it appears to be a mix of mesh for the toes and tongues and a knit or woven material for the rest of the upper. Concentric wavy lines run down either side of the shoe and around the toe, with a pattern similar to topographic maps. The initial colorway comes in black, with metallic silver accents for the wavy lines and Swooshes, a Light Army green midsole, and bold orange Air pods underneath.

Nike has not announced their release date for the Air Liquid Max’s redesigned upper version, but retailer DTLR currently has them listed for a July 1st, 2026 drop. The new look comes in a mix of black and metallic silver for the upper, and goes bold for the sole with a combination of army green and burnt orange shades. Pairs will be available from both Nike and select retailers for $220.
