Nike Air Pegasus 89 Golf “Phoenix Open” Releases February 7th

Nike is celebrating the upcoming PGA Tour’s Phoenix Open, creating a golf-ready pair of the Air Pegasus 89 out of recycled materials, inspired by the tournament’s sponsor Waste Management.

Nike’s move to more sustainable sneakers has ramped up dramatically in the last few years. Now, nearly all in-line Nike products feature some percentage of recycled materials by weight, like the Next Nature series. This week, we got our first look at a special pair of the Air Pegasus 89 for the PGA’s Phoenix Open, which features an upper made almost entirely from recycled plastic. The construction is likely inspired by the tournament’s sponsor, Waste Management, and builds each panel out of reused plastic, giving the shoe a crinkled, well-worn look. The shoe features some colorful pieces in Racer Blue and Fierce Pink stitching, adding metallic silver elements for the Swooshes. The insoles come with a print of plastic waste, and a graphic “Take out the Trash” printed on each.

Nike’s release of the Air Pegasus 89 Golf for the Waste Management Phoenix Open is expected to release on February 7th, 2024, a day ahead of the tournament’s start.
