Legendary footwear collector and reseller Larry Deadstock has joined forces with esteemed streetwear journalist François Chevalier to recount the origins, histories and stories behind some of the best limited-edition sneaker releases in a new book, titled 1,000 DEADSTOCK SNEAKERS.The term "deadstock" refers to "authentic, unworn sneakers that were produced for limited-edition releases, limited-run reruns, or pairs that otherwise have stopped being made," per the book's official description. The featured sneakers are no longer available for purchase from their respective retailers, and they've earned some of the most desirable and valuable titles in the market's existence.Among those featured are the first pair of Air Jordans, several pairs from revolutionary designers like Virgil Abloh, as well as a slew of designs from basketball players, including LeBron James, Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan. Deadstock and Chevalier dive deeper into the historical significance of shoes like the Nike Air Max 95 Neon designed by Sergio Lozano, the first resale star of the 1990s and the New Balance 992, redesigned by Joe Freshgoods in 2020.
