New Balance’s “Dark Ice Wine” Made in USA 992 Drops This Month

Teddy Santis continues to deliver excellent in-line colorways of New Balance models for the Made in USA line. This week, another pair of the 992 has emerged, drenched in a “Dark Ice Wine” purple shade. Pairs are set to release later this month.

The New Balance 992 first arrived in 2006 as part of NB’s 100th-anniversary celebration, anchoring the brand’s premium “99X” series with sophisticated materials and tech. Designed by Jonathan Bacon, it introduced the ABZORB SBS cushioning system, offered in an impressive 78 widths and sizes for ultimate inclusivity. Known for its clean grey pig-skin suede/mesh upper, the 992 quietly became a staple of everyday style, famously adopted by tech icon Steve Jobs. After being discontinued around 2010, the model resurged in 2020 with re-issues and high-profile collabs from WTAPS and JJJJound, and has now fallen under the purview of the Made in USA line.

This week, a new addition to this season’s MiUSA collection has surfaced, arriving on shelves later this month. The new style of the 992 comes in a subtle but colorful palette, bringing another array of Fall shades to your wardrobe. The look begins with a jet black mesh for the shoe’s underlay, adding its leather mid layers in a pale, pastel shade of purple. The pigskin suede overlays comes in a “Dark Ice Wine” shade of purple, a hue we’ve seen on a range of NB models over the last few months. Finally, a brilliant orange accent is added for the N logos and 992 branding.
