New Balance is getting a head start on their Lunar New Year collection for 2026, dropping the project over a month before the celebration. This year’s “Year of the Horse” series features six pairs of sneakers, highlighting all the new models introduced in 2025.
New Balance has steadily grown its Lunar New Year collections into an annual tradition, blending cultural celebration with standout sneaker design. Early releases, like the New Balance 2002R Protection Pack, New Balance 57/40 ‘Lunar New Year’, and New Balance 740 ‘Lunar New Year’, embraced neutral tones and festive accents tied to zodiac themes as early as 2022–2023. This week, the Boston brand has shared their full slate of releases for 2026, once again focusing on subtle details and craftsmanship for the Year of the Horse.
The 2026 LNY series from New Balance is one of their largest collections yet, spanning six shoes as well as a full apparel capsule. The series does not lean as hard into the Year of the Horse theme as other brands, selectively using faux pony hair for small details. The project focuses on their new models introduced in 2025, the Abzorb 2000, 2010, and 204L. The 2K and 2010 both get one colorway each, while the 204 comes in tonal light brown or white suede. The collection is anchored by a classic, the 574, in two tonal styles, white or black suede, both with bright red branding.

New Balance’s 2026 Lunar New Year collection is getting a very early start this year, releasing on January 1st, 2026 in Asia. We will likely see a wider global release shortly after, though this has not been officially stated yet. The “Year of the Horse” theme features six pairs of sneakers, highlighting their new models from ’25; the Abzorb 2000, 2010, and 204L, and anchored by two styles of the classic 574.
