New Balance is ramping up their color offerings for the 1890 ahead of Summer. This week, the runner has surfaced with a new ’90s outdoor vibe, sporting toggle lacing and an eye-catching “Nordic Green” colorway, coming soon.

The 1890 is New Balance’s latest silhouette in their lifestyle runner family. The shoe builds on the styling of previous retro-inspired releases, like the incredibly popular 2002, 2010, and 1906 models that have dominated their release calendar over the past several years. Introduced early this year through an Action Bronson collaboration, the design has continued to heat up with projects from JoeFreshGoods, Stone Island, and JJJJound. With the Summer solstice signaling a change in seasons this week, the Boston brand has lined up some bold new colorways for the 1890 for warmer weather, adding extra details to ready the shoe for more time in the outdoors. One new style that surfaced this week comes in a “Nordic Green” palette, mixing a tan mesh base layer with forest green overlays, kelly green accents, and neon green Abzorb cushioning. This model also introduces a toggle lacing system, which combined with the colors is giving some serious ’90s trail vibes.

New Balance’s upcoming colorways of the 1890 do not currently have a US release date planned, but pairs are set to hit select overseas retailers on July 1st, 2026. The latest styles bring some bold new color palettes to the runner, like this “Nordic Green” pair that mixes tan mesh, dark green overlays, gold accents, a neon Abzorb cushioning underfoot. Toggle laces also add the ability for quick adjustments to the fit. Pairs will come with a $180 price tag.
